Fold'N Fly
Travel lighter on a paper plane
The title above is actually a website. For only $8.88, you can actually upgrade your benefits on the site with a membership. This amount is a one-time fee, not a subscription, and it lasts a lifetime, yours or the person who owns the site, I guess.
This membership includes all of the paper airplane folding plans, downloadable games and activities, the ability to create and print your own private pilot's license, the ability to save your favorite plane designs, with an ad-free experience on the whole site!
There is a section for parents and teachers with lesson plans, activities, experiments, and more.
Travel Lighter
Yes, my subtitle above is about traveling lighter. No, I don't think you will travel anywhere on yours, or your child's, paper airplane creations.
But, I'm a therapy expert. Not a therapist. I'm an expert in therapy because I've had many therapy appointments. One group therapy appointment, I was required to write down everything that seemed stressful to me that morning. After about ten minutes, the counselor instructed us on how to make a few paper airplane designs. We each picked the design we wanted, and then folded our problem papers into airplanes. We went outside and flew them. Then, we each had to pick one up from the ground, not our own, and go back inside. We each unfolded our newly adopted planes. We were each asked, one by one, if we wanted to keep our new plane with those same problems, or did we want our original plane back.
This exercise stuck with me. It illustrated many things:
most of us take life way too seriously
most of us should go outside more
writing down stressful things gives us a truer picture of the things we didn't even realize were bothering us
given the fantasy opportunity to trade problems with someone else isn't even remotely what we would really wish to do, and
we quickly realized that no matter how someone dresses, what they drive, what kind of diagnoses they have, we are all dealing with problems.
So, after you and yours save some money on this fun membership (totally optional), have fun folding and flying planes, learning something about flight, remember my therapy session. You don't need a group to write down what is stressing you, and then put it into flight!
I love you, and I hope you really do fly lighter,
Kim
